Unfortunately, the pressures of recent events seem to have short-circuited the Trussbot's wiring again. This seems to be happening an awful lot recently, doesn't it?

Liz is now openly contradicting Liz on key points as she flip-flops all over the place, presumably because she's not sure what Jeremy Hunt will allow her to do and she's still refusing to speak to him. Today is a prime example of this.

Just a fortnight ago, the Trussbot was "committed" to the triple lock, but this morning her spokesman insisted she was "not making any commitments". He explained Truss and previous chancellor Kamikwazi Kwarteng had made a "mutual decision" to move away from the triple lock.

Confused? I certainly am.

When Liz was telling us she was committed to the triple lock, she actually wasn't, and then to further confuse matters, she was challenged by Ian Blackford at PMQs today.

He suggested pensioners - the Tories' key demographic - are on the frontline when it comes to cuts and asked for another U-turn. Astonishingly, Truss immediately obliged, insisting she is "completely committed" to the triple lock after all. My guess is she was startled like a rabbit in the headlights and just said whatever came into her mouth.

Of course, there is the possibility she is terrified of a rebellion from her own MPs - the ones who are pretending to have a conscience to save their careers.

Former health minister Maria Caulfield said: "Pensioners should not be paying the price for the cost of living crisis whether caused by the war in Ukraine or mini-budgets."

Maria is pretending to be a moderate to save her own skin, but she has voted for pretty much every dreadful policy of recent years. Obviously, she is totally sincere about the triple lock though and only a cynical person would question her motives.

The triple lock was set in place in by David Cameron to guarantee that state pensions would rise by whichever is highest: prices, average earnings or 2.5%. This was a smart move because it kept the Tories' pensioner base on side and now Truss has no idea whether she is going to screw them over.

To clarify, two weeks ago Liz was and was not committed to the triple lock, but today she is and is not committed to the triple lock. Do you have any fucking idea what's going on? Because I certainly don't, and by the looks of things, neither does Liz x
